Hotslings Sizing & Wearing Instructions

Hotslings Sizing & Wearing Instructions
Hotslings must be sized correctly to be comfortable. The most important factor in getting the correct size is the shoulder-to-hip measurement.

Use a soft tape measure to measure yourself from the outer corner of your shoulder, diagonally across your body, down to your hip bone (put your hand on your hip, like you're ("be'in sassy") . The number (in inches) should be in the 20s.

Notes on fit: Everyone is different. What they can and can't tolerate is largely preferential. Some people can wear more than one size and that's okay. It's trying on clothing; you may wear a size 6 and a size 8; they both fit, maybe one's slightly looser.

Too Small: feels uncomfortably tight, digs into baby's legs, it's crazy hard to get baby in.

Too Big: baby feels insecure, your legs bump the baby as you walk, your bach aches after a short time, sling slips off your shoulder.

Find your best fit with our SIZE CALCULATOR (use pre-preg weight; if you get more than one size recommended and have big breasts, broad shoulders, a big 'ole baby, or wear bulky clothes, pick the larger size). Most people wear a 3, 4 or 5.

Wearing Instructions - Every Hotsling comes with full color instructions & DVD!

Fold the pouch into itself to make a 2 layer tube. Find the curved-seamed end. This will be at your hip and toward the front. Put the folded edge over your head and rest it on your opposite shoulder. The curved, padded end should be down, directly under the opposite nipple from your shoulder. The open side of the tube should be facing UP.

For the Cradle and Front Carries, the padding should be flipped on the outside. For the Hip Carry, padding will be on the inside.

Hotslings Cradle Hold (birth - 4 months)

Put the sling on non-dominant shoulder. Line up seam under opposite nipple. Put padding on outside. Hold baby with non-dominant arm. Open the outer edge of the pouch so it clears the baby's bottom. Line up the seam with the crook of his body (diaper area).

Switch baby into dominant arm. Open the pouch around the baby so you can wiggle him in, bottom and back first, head last. Lower his bottom and back in. His feet should be crossed and on top of his body.

Bounce him down into the pouch. He should be between the two layers of fabric. You can cradle his head with the side of the pouch. Hooray! Go chase your 3 year old.

Hotslings Kangaroo Hold (2-8 months)

Put the sling on. Put the padding on the outside. Put the seam at the mid-line of your body.

Hold baby up high on your chest, his back to your front, slightly facing sideways (away from the pouch shoulder). Find pouch opening. Cross his legs and put them on top of this body. Grab the pouch rail. Lower his bottom in.

Bounce him on down. The seam should be in front of him. His weight should be tipped toward you and resting back against your body. Let go! Arms out or in.

Hotslings Hip Carry (4 months - 35 lbs)

Put the sling on with the padding on the inside. Wear the sling on the shoulder of your dominant hand for this carry. Line up the seam with the opposite nipple. Toss your kiddo up onto your shoulder.

Put his feet all the way through. Slide the sling around so the seam is lined up with his spine. Open the folds of the pouch to make a seat. Drop him into the seat by lowering his bottom between the layers of fabric. The bottom rail (or padded rail) should be under his knees and the top rail (unpadded) can be pulled up under his armpits or up above his shoulder for more snuggle.
