What is the weight limit for the sling, pouch, or mei tai carriers?

For your comfort, the "ring" sling carriers, the pouch, and the mei tai carriers; approximately 35 lbs. The child will likely outgrow their desire to be carried by the time they reach this weight.

Which carrier is the easiest to use?

All baby carriers take a little time to get used to them, after all, this is something new on your body that you haven't tried before! We suggest that before "giving up" on any carrier, that you use it at least once a day for a week or two, and really get used to wearing it. Once you find out how great "hands free wearing" can be, you won't know what you ever did without one.

Do you have a personal preference as to any of the baby carriers you sell?

Yes, it's the Hotsling, but that's primarily because that's what I started out with, after I saw my daughter-in-law and her friends "wearing" their babies. I wanted to carry my grandkids like they were. In fact, the Hotsling was my first product. If you can get a good fit, you'll probably love it. The Hotsling is actually a pouch type of carrier. There are no rings, ties, buckles, etc.; very simple concept.

There are so many sizes in the Hotslings, pouch style of carrier, how do I find my size?

You will easily find the Hotsling "size calculator" under Hotslings, on our web site. Please take the time to measure yourself, so that you can get a good fit, hopefully, you'll get it right the first time. We're here to help you, but I don't always get it right either, simply trying to talk to someone over the phone. The size calculator should give you your best size choice. If the calculator gives you two sizes, go with the smaller size, but, if you are really big breasted, have wide shoulders, and have a particularly big baby, then go with the larger size. Again, please measure yourself! I have more exchanges on the size 1 than any other size; the vast majority of women are a size 3 or 4. Also, the pouch style of carrier is measured to you, and not the baby. Look at the pictures on our web site at the models wearing a Hotsling, and the size of the children; some infants, some are toddlers; the model is wearing the same size!

I am confused by the names of the some of the Hotslings; padded, stretch, etc. What's the difference?

Some of the confusion is definitely on our part by the way we title some of the slings. In order to be found in search engines, sometimes we utilize the full and complete name of the sling, other times we simply don't. All of the Hotslings are padded in the rail, in order to give a little extra cushion for the child's leg. Stretch means that there is some "give" to the fabric; i.e., some of the fabrics have 3% lycra. None are stretchy like bathing suit material. Some of the Hotslings are 100% cotton, and have no "give". Look in the description, and not necessarily the "title" of the product, to see exactly what the fabric contents contain.

The Mei Tai looks really nice, but complicated.

It's not nearly as daunting to put on as it looks! There is excellent detailed instructions that comes with the Mei Tai, and the Mei Tai Hip, and once you've done it a couple of times, it will be a breeze. These particular carriers have great weight distribution, and if you're going to be carrying your child for a long period of time, these carriers are certainly an excellent choice. Also, there is no sizing involved with either of these carriers, so both parents can utilize the same.

Is there a problem with the rings "slipping" with the Maya Wrap, or the Zolowear slings; when you would put weight on them, the fabric doesn't just slip through?

First of all, the reason I carry these two brands of "ring" slings, is because they are the best in the marketplace for durability, and quality. These slings are made of the highest quality materials, and have been thoroughly tested. The rings are of a quality that they will not break, and the fabric will not simply slip through. For example, the Maya Wrap rings have been tested to withstand more than 500 lbs of pressure before being bent. Ring slings are of the same size, and cannot go through or slip through each other. These kinds of issues were found early on in the "slinging world", and this is why we carry the best products - tried and true. Parents need to use their best judgment when bending over with their child in any of the carriers. Simply use your hand to support your baby when you are leaning over; this is simply wise to do no matter how trustworthy a product. Unfortunately, accidents are usually the fault of the parent, simply being careless.

Do you know anything about the companies who make the baby carriers you sell?

Yes, plenty! All of these "companies" started out as moms who wanted a better product, and who better than moms, to come up with a product that they would use for their own children? I have personally met all of the owners for the baby carrier products I sell. Each and every one of them has their own story about how they started out, evolved, and became successful with their products. Most started right at their own kitchen tables, and they all continue to be highly involved, and hands on, in the process of providing the best product for other moms, that they can provide. Each and every one I've met are down-to-earth, and you'd be surprised about about how much they each support the other, even though their carrier may be different, or even similar. Some of these women are even in direct competition with the other, but they are best of friends!
